i figured out how to put the url to the thumbnail in a custom field, but i have no idea where to put that line of php to make some kind of gallery page work!!! i’m sorry i don’t know much, but could you help me?

Very useful tip,I’ll have a shoot.I also wonder how i can make the thumbnail associated with specific categories automatically without editing the custom field everytime.Is there any plugin or tricks for that?

Great article thank you. I used your tips to add functionality in my plugin that thumbnails from images attached to a post (by passing the custom field) to now allow users to define an alternative image using a custom field in the way you describe. Thanks again

I’m going to use this technique on an upcoming magazine site. I’m wondering if there’s a way to alter the PHP code so that you can direct link an image from another site? I’m attempting to link the image from another domain of mine and it’s giving me an error message stating that it didn’t come out of ”document root” even though the image itself actually displayed.

What would you suggest as a fix?

I know direct-linking is bad, trust me. But I don’t consider it wrong when you’re linking off of another domain that you own – heh.

Charles: I guess that the quickest way is to edit the php files that serves the feeds. They can be found in the folder wp-includes.

feed-atom.php
feed-rss.php
feed-rss2.php
feed-rdf.php

The part you should edit is the one where summary/description is printed out. If you need more help, don't hesitate to use my contact form.
